If you prefer to stay away from 'tourist central' then this hotel could be a good choice. The rooms are just large enough and are kept quite clean. The beds are on the firm side but still comfortable. The flat screen TVs in the rooms offer around 20 channels in English. There's a rooftop wading pool that is well maintained but the lounging area with deck chairs next to it is awkward. The breakfast is good with a decent variety and the staff are attentive. Reasonably priced restaurants and a supermarket are a few steps away. The north end of the malecon is an 8 minute walk.

Pros:Great location, breakfast buffet, friendly staff.
Cons:The bed was hard and uncomfortable, the air conditioner in my room made a loud clanging noise when the fan was on high, and I was allergic to something in the room, maybe one of the cleaning supplies.

Pros:Clean, nice and helpful staff, economical, good location in terms of visiting the shops in Malecon.
Cons:This hotel is for young adults who are into the night life because you can totally hear them coming in at 3 am in the morning, drunk, yelling and banging on the doors. Because the hotel is located on a busy street with cobble street roads, you can also hear the cars/trucks VERY clearly, and if you are a light sleeper, you will not have a peaceful sleep. I booked this hotel for my family (unknowingly), and we did not fall asleep until 5 in the morning. I'm not sure what it's like if the room were on the other side, but if you happen to have already booked a room, I would request for a room opposite of the main road.

Pros:Very pleasant & helpful staff. Balcony was nice for people watching on the main street. Also breakfast was included, although it said it wasn't when booking.
Cons:the shower would be a little cramped for a large man, not a problem for us however. Also, there are no blankets (sheets only) for bedding. Which really wasn't a problem but seemed odd.
