We stayed at the GHL San Lazaro Art Hotel in Cartagena, and while there were some positive aspects, we were quite disappointed with several issues. Firstly, the shower drain was severely clogged with hair and did not drain properly. This was not only unsightly but also made showering a frustrating experience. Secondly, there was visible mold growth around the air conditioner vents in the room, and the smell of black mold was obvious and off-putting. This is a clear hygiene concern that should not be ignored. Perhaps the most disappointing aspect was the description of the room view. We were led to believe that we would have a nice view, but instead, our window looked out onto a disgusting, lightless interior patio filled with dirty maintenance equipment. This was far from the pleasant view we expected. Surely the lack of natural light in the room was contributing to the growth of mold. On a positive note, the beds were relatively comfortable, the free breakfast provided was ample and very good, and the service we received from the staff was excellent. However, these positives couldn’t overshadow the disappointment caused by the cleanliness, the smell, and the misleading description of the room. We hope that the hotel addresses these issues promptly to ensure a better experience for future guests.
