I had booked a minivan but they said I had booked a midsize SUV. I showed them the Kayak note and they said I had to call Kayak. In the 2nd they didn't have a Suv and had to give us a minivan. I felt abused

Despite providing both Kayak and Sixt my flight arrival time into EWR, the Sixt rental counter desk was closed and I was unable to retrieve the car I had reserved and pre-paid. Fortunately, the other major rental car brand desks were open and I rented elsewhere. Thus far Sixt has resisted refunding their $400+ charge. Rent from Sixt in the US at your own risk.

Avoid at all costs! I received a scratched up car and was assured it was fine by the agents. I was not provided a paper receipt when requested and now Sixt is trying to hold me accountable for a smudge (not even a scratch) on the cover of a mirror. Garbage rental car company.

Three hours wait to get cars. Staff wasn’t sensitive to delays at all and no sense of urgency shown to clear queues. Nearby rental companies on the contrary were moving at lightning speed. Terrible experience overall

Girl who rented me the car was not very friendly or helpful with my questions. My impression of her was she was not happy to be there and listen to anyone. I rented from Newark Airport office a little after 5am Wednesday 09.18.24. The car was not what I wanted to rent and the first one had a check engine light on and needed to get a replacement.

Line was so long (about an hour), car wreaked like smoke. It also has a cracked windshield, a dent, and multiple marks on the exterior. Only good thing was the Avis girl who helped us at the counter.

I left my purse somewhere between the rental car return and the train so dashed back to trace my steps and met the nicest enterprise employee ever who quickly took me to the car to check, called his manager and then the manager called the train folks. Happy ending in that my purse was returned and we were able to catch our scheduled flight! It started with two very conscientious Enterprise employees. I failed to get their names but am sending them a high five!

Alamo did not allow me to get a car because they won’t take anything but credit card bookings. This should have been made clear at the offset. We spent money, time and resources to get to Newark to be disappointed. Missed our connections afterwards and everything that was planned after had to be cancelled. Super disappointing.

Newark rental experience was awesome. Unfortunately my rental was supposed to be picked up at Laguardia airport, and the Hertz team from LaGuardia is about the most disrespectful you could have find anywhere in the USA. They forced me to get an Uber and made me go to Newark to pick up the rental over a technicality that I was not responsible for. I spent 3 hours in the whole process, and I experienced the worse level of customer service at an airport’s Hertz rental location there at LaGuardia. Needless to say, I’m not using Hertz car rental services ever again… Sincerely, Tony Zapata.

I made the reservation and paid in advance, only to find when arriving at the counter that I’ve been placed on a Do not rent ban. The staff at the counter could not tell me why or help me any further and made me call a customer service line, where I waited for 20 minutes on hold. Since I was in a time crunch, I had to walk away and rent with a different service. Why did Hertz not flag my account when I paid for my reservation in advance, instead of wasting my time when I was already ready to pick up the car? Who knows. I still have not been able to get through to their specific phone line to figure out why my account has been blocked, after calling multiple times. I last rented with Hertz a few months ago, and never received any notice about my account being blocked.

Nothing. Hertz did not have an available car from me at the location my reservation time, even though I made AND PAID FOR the reservation in advance. The location not only ran out of cars hours before my reservation, but they did not think to even call me to tell me that they will not be able to honor my reservation. I had to commute almost two hours to reach the Hertz location. I only found out AFTER reaching the Hertz location that my reservation would not be honored. The location also refused to assist me with my dilemma. I am STILL actively trying to get my money back for a service they refused to provide.

Cons:

Confirm the location will have a car when a reservation is made in advance. I made the reservation over a week in advance. There is NO REASON AT ALL for Hertz to not have a car ready for me when I arrived.

I’m hoping I didn’t screw up with that easy pass. I’m not sure it was open for a bridge crossing and I’m not very familiar with the whole toll and easy pass since the cashless toll system has been implemented. I could have used more info on using the easy pass. Will I get penalized?

They lost the keys and the car then the wait to be seen meanwhile they are all here the attitude it’s just not a good experience at all. The person that lets you out is never there and you have to wait on them or go looking for someone it is ridiculous .

Getting to the rental location was difficult, no clear direction on where and how to get a pick up. Everything is on an app. and that is a pain if you phone is no working well.

Please ensure that u add additional time to your booking in the beginning itself. They charged me for 2 whole additional days for returning the car about 3 hours late. Also, the Audi Q3 is not the best option for a long drive. The car hydroplaned massively on wet road conditions in upstate NY. Seat quality and ride quality left a whole lot to be desired. Overall, I’m extremely disappointed. Wouldn’t be recommending.

There needs to be proactive communication from the operator of that Fox franchise that you have to call for a shuttle pickup. It is not automatic. It is only "on demand". Also the franchisee (Drivo Rent a Car) demands you present proof insurance info at time of rental or no dice! IN addition, their system is not tied into Fox's loyalty program so they can pull up rental preferences, etc.

This was a bad experience. I booked the car through kayak. The company text me the day after for my personal information to expedite my checkout. The day of pickup they told me they need to do a soft credit check because I live in New Jersey. You knew that yesterday when I responded to the text. So my frozen credit can't rent a 7 passenger mini van. Not like a email or text with the policy could have prevented that. I could have unfrozen my credit 24hr before but it's ok grandma and grandpa can ride in the trunk or roof of my car. If I was from Russia I could have rented it an put in a container and been back home before the next shift started. Just another business with great customer service. Thanks for saving me $600

Bait and switch in more ways than one. It wasn’t Ace, it turned out to be operated by Drivo (who I would not have booked with if that was made clear). Drivo forced me to purchase additional insurance at pick-up that other rental providers have never required because I already have insurance. I am extremely disappointed in Kayak for misleading me on who I was booking with, disappointed in Ace for letting Drivo operate under their banner, and disappointed with Drivo for forcing me to pay an additional $119.96 in surprise costs at pick-up when I had already declined additional insurance when booking (because I already have insurance).

Your credit card requirements are ridiculous. If you want this stupid system, have a way to check the credit card before the customer shows up. Requiring credit cards that have chips with the person's name who booked the car is strange. It cost us money, time and anxiety. Will ensure to not book work you or Hertz again.
