They had a car for me with short notice. The car I “reserved” wasn’t ready and they strongly encourage me to take another vehicle that wouldn’t have served my needs. I quickly learned the strong odor of marijuana was masked by a still present foam Smelling like oranges. When the orange odor wore off it was nearly intolerable. Both the trunk and passenger door raddled horribly and the car needs to be removed from the rental fleet. Very Disappointing!!

Pickup in Missoula was long and arduous, long line, only one staff at a time. Vehicle was brand new, no instructions on various features, we had to ask a customer in the lot how to get in and start it! Poor choice of assignment for elderly renters, too many 'whistles and bells', hard to climb into and out of. Drop+off at Belgrade/Gallatin was quick and easy.

Had a tiny bit of difficulty comparing the trunk size between a mid and full size. It worked out in the end, but it was a master Tetris experience!

Pickup at the Missoula airport requires a short walk to an outlying location just beyond the terminal (no reflection on Thrify). Staff wasn’t very friendly. A chip in the windshield wasn’t indicated as previous damage so we had to call and report it. Car was very clean. Easy return.

When our flight arrived, the car rental counters were all busy and agents assisted travelers regardless of who the rental company was. This really expedited things. The SUV that we had reserved was there for us. When we got to it, we discovered that it only had 1/2 tank of fuel and it had not been cleaned. I returned to the desk where they quickly changed us to an upgraded SUV at no additional charge. The situation cold not have been handled any better. We were very pleased with our experience with Alamo and the rental desk at the Missoula airport.

Had to wait an hour because the car wasn't ready even though we had a reservation. Lines were unorganized and people were butting in line. When we finally got the car and left, we had received a call to come back because the paperwork was wrong. Finally got it straightened out. Did receive a discount at the end of the trip. That was appreciated.

Rental counter is in a TENT across the parking lot. It was raining quite hard when we arrived and there was no way to get to the counter except to walk across the lot. I have had knee surgery and didn't want to slip. When i asked the attendant if there was a shuttle he laughed and told me I could walk there. I am sosrry- how is this ADA compliant at an airport?? Also there were people in wheelchairs and walkers on my flight. Low score on location set up.HIgh score on actual car! Loved my brand NEW Toyota Camry and the new car smell was intoxicating!

Pros:

Pick up and drop off were smooth. The car was nice and comfortable on the inside.

Cons:

The car they gave me had a leaky front driver's side tire that I had to stop and fill up 4 or 5 times during my trip. That was an annoyance.

Intermediate SUV

Car had soft tire. You could tell there had been previous problem because valve stem cap was missing. After refilling it with air twice, I had to take it to a tire shop in Stevensville and wait for them to fix it. They found a screw in the tire. When I returned the car I told the clerk that I should receive some kind of discount and she said I would have to talk to the manager. I was flying out so it’s my loss. AVIS NO MORE !!!!!
