Snorkeling is the quintessential way to experience nature at the US Virgin Islands. Leinster Bay and Maho Bay are some of the best spots on the islands.
4. Visit Frenchtown
Visit the old 19th-century village that was once inhabited by the French colones and stay for a meal at one of the sea-facing restaurants.
5. Mingle With Locals at St. Thomas Carnival
It's never too hard to find a reason to party on the US Virgin Islands, but head to St. Thomas between April and May to celebrate Carnival.

The best time to visit the US Virgin Islands is between December and April. It's the time of year with the best weather and when most services and activities are open for business.
How to Get to the U.S. Virgin Islands
Entry requirements
Nationals from all countries, except the United States, must enter the country with a valid passport.
The need for a visa is waived for citizens of most countries for stays under 90 days.
Plane
The US Virgin Islands is served by two airports: Cyril E King Airport (St Thomas Island) and Henry E Rohlsen Airport (St Croix Island). Most international flights land in St Thomas, usually with a layover in Miami.
Boat
The US Virgin Islands are on the route of major cruise ships. Most of them dock on St Thomas Island, served by two cruise ports: Havensight and Crown Bay.
There are regular daily ferries connecting St Thomas to islands on the British Virgin Islands. Please keep in mind that a passport is required to travel between both destinations.

How to Get Around the U.S. Virgin Islands
Boat
There are ferries every hour or twice a day connecting St Thomas Island to St John Island. Ferries connect St Thomas to St Croix Island two times a day.
A one-way ticket starts at approximately $8.15 per person.
Bus
There are regular buses operated by Vitran serving the three main islands, running from early morning to evening.
Although schedules might change and delays happen, there is usually one bus every hour.
Car
Drivers must be 25 years old or older, have a credit card, and have a valid driver's license to rent a car on the US Virgin Islands.
Not all roads on the islands are well-maintained, so driving can be a challenge. Drivers travel on the left side of the road and wearing a seat belt is mandatory for all occupants of the vehicle.
Plane
There are regular daily domestic flights between the islands of St Thomas and St Croix. Seaborne Airlines and Cape Air are the two local airlines operating these routes.
The Cost of Living in the U.S. Virgin Islands
The local currency is the US Dollar. ATMs are easily found in the main towns on the three islands. Credit cards are accepted in most of the large hotels and restaurants. Expect to pay around $75-80 for a couple of days of groceries and about $16.50 for a meal at an inexpensive restaurant.
